I hate to shoot animals, but if I have to to protect my flock, I would as well. Good luck keeping them at bay!! Where there is one, there are many. I hope they get the picture soon so you won't have to get rid of as many!

It sounds as if you have not had a lot of experience with firearms. It may be a good idea to get your hunting friend to give you a few pointers on gun safety and shooting a firearm..Always be alert as to your backstop and if you have neighbors within rifle range a shotgun may be your best method,,good luck and shoot straight

I've used guns before and have shot targets and also gophers (never hit one though LOL). However my experience is limited and its also been quite a while since I shot anything but a BB or pellet gun....last time was about four years ago.

I would have been surprised by these posts at one time. Here in Syracuse, NY I saw my first Coyote this past week. It was not far from many residential homes. There have been reports in the local news here about them coming closer and closer to people and residential areas. Though I have seen deer even in the city where we used to live.
People are worried about their cats and small dogs. Some are worried about their kids.
My chickens are close to the house so any predator after them is to close for comfort.
Unfortunately the deer populations have increased in Central NY so their predators follow suit.
Also unfortunately they are building in the migration routes deer and other animals use, which forces them to cross one residential area after another.
If evolution is true they will evolve to learn not to come near humans.
In the mean time we have to use deadly force to protect our families and livestock.

Do what ever it takes to protect what is yours! Also if they are on your porch and staying that close to the house and you its really not Good. They need to be delt with! It's only a matter of time befor they come after you or a child.
May your aim be true and your hands steady!

Good luck and God Bless!

I love to kill coyotes, we dont have any more rabbits where we live and they're part of the reason!

I wish somebody would come and kill the coyotes around my place because they took a pair of my ducks and a goose. They atacked almost all of my others too. Theres way too many of them around here. I never really thought or cared about coyotes until the got my ducks and goose and hurt the others... It opened my eyes i guess!

Jamie the cattle ranchers out here will hang the dead coyote to their fence because it shows the other yotes not to cross that territory. While it may sound crazy it does work.
