Frosty looked at the translator in Erin's hands. "Y-yes. We need to get back to the ship... incase it has reinforcements." he said, his voice trembling. "I saw a crow fly out of thin air, and I think I know where it came from. Follow me." he urged gently. It must be hard for Erin to lose her bond and then a crew member... he thought, feeling numb with grief. She hugged her knees and rocked back and forth. His smile kept running through her mind. If she looked up, would there be bits of him strewn on the ground? Her face grew hot, but no tears came. Hadn't she just spoken to him? "Ezor." She whispered. It still felt like would come. "No. No, no, no, NO!" She screamed into her knees. She lifted her head and was about to shout, when she noticed the chicken.
At once her face softened. "Oh. Rocky, I didn't see you there." She rubbed her face and took a deep breath. "The gunman was Feral." She glanced away so the chicken wouldn't she her face. Her voice shook. "Ezor had him against a rock and... something happened. A mine or grenade, I don't know."
Looking at anything besides Frosty, she noticed something. Shakily, she got to her feet. Every muscle trembled. The girl bent to pick it up, the sand filtering through her fingers. Ezor's translator. She stared at it a bit. It didn't feel right in her hands. It felt hallowed now.
She thumbed a button, issuing static.
"We should get to the ship." Erin mumbled. "I lost two of my crew. I can't bare to lose any more."
