With the extreme heat and the wait, it may have done a number on the eggs. I waited until it cooled a bit here, but it seems they went through H#LL to get to you!

Yes, the nasty hard boiled looking one was yours:( I know you sent me fresh eggs and I don't blame you at all. I also had some bad ones from down south and that's the one that exploded today it was a brown egg so I couldn't see through it.

Well...Im sorry the one was nasty looking was from me! Maybe it had a little crack in it ou something and then the heat and time.

But I am happy mine wasnt the one that exploded!! Was it a BYC member to?? They may offer to send you more also. I believe it can be tough once the bacteria from one egg has covered the other eggs. I am going to start collecting more and putting them on hold for you....just in case.

Don't be sorry. It wasn't your fault that you mailed on a tuesday and I didn't get them until the next tuesday. Yes, they were from a BYC member also but I'm not blaming that person either. I think it all had to do with them in transport so long in the heat and both sets were sent priority so had the floods not delayed them they would have gotten here a lot sooner.

at the flood and the PO. I found another oozing egg today. Didn't even bother to crack it open as it was stinky. I'm thinking I should just give up on these but I don't want to throw them all out if there is a chance of just one live chick hatching as I would feel awful if I threw out something that would actually have hatched if i just gave it a chance.

I did candle but I couldn't see through many of them as they had nice thick shells. Guess I need to get a better candler than the coffee can method. We used that method in HS and I could always see through the eggs.

I would think that you could see through most of them, unless they are maran or araucana eggs. Even a brown egg you should be able to see some veins. Ecspecially on those white ones....

Yeah, I think not being able to see through them means they might be bad, rotten, icky. Esp. since I just found 2 more oozing eggs:( I really hope not all of them were ruined in the mail. I want these chickies! I guess when it rains it pours. I candeled a lot in HS and placed really high at state grading eggs so I know how to do it. I am going to get a 75 watt instead of the 60 watt and see if I can see better. I'm older now and maybe I just need a higher wattage bulb to see. I have some brown eggs from my hen and I can candle then just fine. The only ones I've never been able to see through are the blue and green ones I got in the mail earlier in the year until I got this set.
