Booty Space ~How Much Do Your Chickies Have~

I have 2 girls who "roost" on top of my metal nesting box, it's slanted and they put their feet right up at the top and have about 2inches between that and the wall!

I've had up to 6 "roosting" up there but these 2 have just never left that spot. My other "roosts" are about 12 inches from the wall and plenty of space for all of them and more so it's not that these 2 don't have anywhere else to go, they just like this spot!!

12" will do it. A 24" wide poop plank underneath will catch it all and will save you tons of work changing and raking and turning litter. And you will have great fertilizer for the garden all winter and great stuff for composting all summer long. Odor free coop for nearly 6 months, so I know what I am talking about. Every AM I throw open two of four windows and get to scraping. 6 or 7 minutes later, odor gone. I have same litter I put in 6 months ago and no odor whatsoever, so am certain that I can change once a year with no troubles/odor buildup. (24 chooks in an 8x16 coop, deep litter method, grass clippings and shredded leaves only, including nest boxes.)
