Bored Chickens make a not so fun time

Are these seventeen chickens locked in this small space 24 seven?
For how long?
I would think they would have gone cannibal by now. No wonder they are frantic to get out of there.
Like stated above, your coop will house 2 chickens comfortably.
Let them out, rehome them sell them or give them away untill you are more prepared and ready to have that many chickens.
I have 12 chickens in a walk in coop 14 by 8 ft. And i still wish it were bigger.

This is what confuses me when I see people post about chickens attacking them. Maybe it is just me, but if a chicken jumped at me, even if it were a rooster coming at me with spurs, I guarantee my automatic reaction would be to smack the chicken over the fence like I was hitting a home run. Might not be the best reaction due to possible injury (to human and chicken), but it would be my automatic reaction... Seems others are a lot more timid in their reactions?
My sister inlaw did this when she was a kid...she was just a tiny thing and her part of the chores was to collect the eggs. The rooster liked to attack her when she went in to collect so she complained to her dad, who in turn wasn't thinking and said take care of it. She did...she went in with a board in hand to collect eggs and when the rooster came at her she was ready...she accidentally knocked his head right off. She then picked up the rooster and brought it to her dad and said I took care of it dropped the rooster at his feet and went back to collect the eggs.

I have 13 egg laying hens. They are being incredibly aggressive, with humans and with each other (biting, not pecking, the. Faces of my father and I, and flying up to bite us for we are in there). I was wondering if there was anything you guys knew that would help. I gave them a rolling chicken toy from Kaytee. I was wondering if there was anything else. I am renovating the chicken coop this summer so I was just wondering. Any advice would be appreciated.

I see you are renovating the coop this summer.

A good way to get lots of space on the less expensive side is to make a hoop coop.
Then once the bigger coop is built the hoop coop can become a secure run.
I would recommend at least 8'x22' for a hoop run containing 17 adult birds.

Cattle panels give roughly 8' wide by 4' deep each. You would need 6 cattle panels for it.

Here is an example of a cattle panel hoop coop.

I know Mo is a currently active member. She is also pretty nice. I think if asked she would give pointers.

I have a hoop run on my small coop. It is nowhere near big enough for 17 hens though.

I'll agree with the other ladies, that area for that amount of chickens is way to small.. as soon as you can, get them a bigger coop and run.. as big as your property and budget will allow.. or down size your flock.. My spoiled brats have a 8 x 24 ft. coop, I haven't taken measurements yet on the run area's, there are three of them..lol. I have 18 chickens, two roo's, 12 hens of laying age and 4 that are getting ready to start laying.
