I moved out to the country to get away from people who like to tell me how to live my life. for the record, I do not hold a raccoon's hand and sing cumbuya around a campfire.
I keep a gun handy whenever I am outside, and if I run across the occasional raccon, possum or coyote yes, they are marked for death. Sorry, but my pets, my livestock and my garden before anything else.....
That being said, there is absolutely no shortage of raccoons, possums or coyotes in this area. Every few years there is a boom in the population and you are overrun unless you knock their numbers back. Same thing goes for Deer. Without hunts and wildlife management, the local disease vectors go WAY up and animals get desperate as food runs out, and wildlife starts to starve.
If you want to do the live and let live, thats fine and dandy. I guess you don't have the heart to do the responsible thing. Proper wildlife management is not the governments job... its the hunter and trapper's. They just set the guidelines.......
