I have 6 bourbon red poults that I just got. Hatched out last saturday. 2 of them have darker coloring and a spot on their heads. The other 4 are a light golden color. I was wondering if this means anything? Does it tell you their gender or something or is it just random? # 3 and # 4 are the ones that have darker coloring and a head spot.

The lighting isn't really good in that photo but what it appears is that you may have one or more Bourbon Red poults and the others appear to be some kind of mixes.

Show pics of the parents. Bourbon Reds are capable of carrying hidden recessive color genes.

It may be the poor lighting but I never had any Bourbon Red poults that looked like some
I don't have pictures I didn't think to screenshot them before he took the ad down. They looked like normal red bourbons. I have owned red bourbons before but never owned babies only older ones.

What could it be? Thee mom looks sorta like the Jersey buff turkey?
I agree. It could be a Bourbon Buff (bb n- rr) which would have a single Narragansett gene. There are other possibilities which can involve the black winged bronze gene and even the brown gene.

I doubt that it is a Jersey Buff since that is a black based turkey (BB rr).
