BR or Dom hen?

I suppose I am blind. Looks like a single comb to me, which is why I said Barred Rock... and the legs are identical to my Barred Rocks.

They don't look greenish, they look pinkish. They should be yellow if it's a dominique. The females will typically have a slate color down the front of the legs.

I guess the legs are more blackish than green. I was told she was a Dom. but after seeing pics on here of other BR's I thought she may be a BR instead. Thanks for your input.

What you have is a cross bred hen.

The Dominique was almost extinct in the 60's and early 70's. Some people used Dominique Roos X Barred Rock hens or Black Australorp hens to sell chicks to be put off as Dominiques. The true old time Dominique breeders "did not" do this.

This where alot of crossbreds arrived. However, many breeds came from the Dominique originally because of the sex link gene (ie good for hatcheries). The stained beak along with the discolored legs is a big no no to the Dominique standard. However she does have a short type comb. The flatness of her back is seen more in the Barred Rock. She is a nice looking hen.
