BR Rooster?

I think you have a pullet. I’ve read (on these forums, so I can’t site the source) that males have two copies of the barring gene and have twice as much white. Yours has the same coloring as my barred rock hen. Here she is beside me this very moment!

On thanks for sharing! This is promising. We can’t keep a rooster so I’m being extra cautious lol. I guess we will continue to wait and see! I’m happy most responses have been pullet

Can a pullet have a curved tail like that?

At 12 weeks it’s still got development time. I’ve seen cockerels pop up from suspected pullets like that before.
It's not really the curved tail feathers that scream "I'm a boy," it's the shape of the feathers right in front of them. At three months, a cockerel should be starting to grow long, slender, pointy feathers right before his tail (saddle feathers) and around his neck (hackles.) Your bird's feathers are wide and round in both places, which generally tells you she's a "she," not a "he."

especially when there is no cockerel a pullet or hen will takes it place vocally
This totally make sense. Our hbic hen has been super chatty lately and extremely vocal. I guess she’s doing the morning calls, too. Thank you! Learning so much. I’m glad I asked for opinions before writing Lucy off as a rooster
