Sugar Sand - I love that Roo! Susans birds ROCK!

Kinder - the brow on that roo is excellent. Where did you get him?

Yes Matthew Susans birds are the best. I cant wait until next month as we are showing him in Newnan. Wanted to show him in LC but the deadline came and went so fast I missed it with all the holidays and such. But he will have alot of competition in ga. Did you get your roo from her as well. I measured him today hes 24 inches tall not bad for 8 months old.

Tim, I read a post somewhere from you that you bought a male to ad lenth to your female Buff Brahma bantams. I am kinda new at this Brahma stuff could you elaborate on why you are breeding for more length on the female tail. If you ad very much length it will cause the tail to close up more, standard calls for rather short tail, I assume you are talking about the main tail.

I hope to have eggs in the incubator first of February, I also plan on being at the crossroads show in October if I have anything good enough, If not I will be at the Ohio National Show in Columbus. Don

First of all Don, you are not "kinda new at this Brahma stuff". I want better mains(tail) in my buff females, a little longer, a little wider and possibly a little stiffer. I have the "U" shape. I know what the standard calls for and I also know what kind of birds win. I traded Chad one of my tank built males for one of his with more tail AND better color. I have four pens of buffs, so if its a bust, I hope to get some good birds out of my other pens.

My buffs are not laying yet. I set some light eggs last Saturday. I plan on being at crossroads. Look forward to meeting you in person. Greg is taking a break from chickens for a while.

Tim, I believe the Judges are different in some ares of the country. I know for a fact if you are going to show in tough competition they absolutely must be on the big side. My own belief is you can not put the wide back and big head on a small size Brahma Bantam. Just remember on the head the feed has a lot to do with the size. All the hens I seperated out back in late summer are just now molting. Don

Tim, One thing you might want to check is the width of the tail feathers, also sometime with a tight bred strain the wing feather will also narrow up and shorten. Don

AMEN! Jamie Matts judged the Brahmas at the APA National @ Shawnee this past December. Lets just say his idea of what a Brahma should look like is very different than anything I have heard anywhere, including the Standard. Lets hope for a GOOD judge at the Crossroads show. Miss you on the Brahma site.

Tim, it is real important for the Brahma club to get in their choices of the Judges as early as they can. They have put out the list of judges I saw somewhere. Not sure but I believe I read where Brahma club got to pick #8, all the judges at Crossroads will be sanctioned by APA-ABA so that can't hurt Don

Yes, Chad told me we get the eighth pick. I have not seen the list of judges yet.

Tim, I have been away from the Brahma Club several year and do not know how they pick the National judge, used to be by membership vote sent out in the newsletter. I was the directer for this district for a while and we had like 86 members in my district. Don
