By keeping records I've managed to figure out that most of my hens lay every other day; a few lay daily with only one day off a week.
When they first started laying all of them layed daily, with one day off a week. I now have 13 hens, my egg count for the last week has been: today - 6 eggs, yesterday - 11, sat. - 6, friday - 12, thursday- 9, wed. - 11.
Keep in mind that my brahmas are hatchery stock. I do believe that makes a difference.

I assume that means that they will be less efficient layers. How much difference does this make? Does anybody have hatchery stock birds that have experience with laying? Thanks

Actually, I think the opposite. The hatchery stock birds are more geared towards productive egg laying. At least that's what I've gathered from all the brahma info. I've read.

Great! That works out great if that is the case. Seems like I have heard that too now that you mention it. I am going to be hatching pure breeds( will post pics later of parent stock ) and I am going to keep them. This current hen was bought just to gget started and I will use her eggs to sale. Thanks for your input!

Great! Glad to see the Brahma expanding to more parts of the world. It is an absolutely great breed, and you will love them!

By the way, I have 5 more hatching on Sunday! Just wanted to make sure you knew if I haven't already posted it. Will post pics if all goes well

I get to wait for Fall for good Dark Brahma Eggs... Sigh. but I want good LF DBs.

Lights are popular here and I think they'r beautiful but it's the Darks that really appeal to me, I even love my silly little banty DBs.

Kinda funny. I like my lights. They're my head hens and I love their attitudes. My darks are pretty and super calm. My dark roo, Thor, is my chicken soulmate. However, it's my buffs that I find the most beautiful. Such pretty girls.
To each his own I guess.

I need help identifying my beautiful baby - It's supposed to be a buff and has a buff head, but the body is white. Please help me figure out what little Snowflake is! Also little man or girl? He/She is about 3-1/2 weeks old and such a sweetie!
