@Sjisty, Why would this thread get closed down? I guess I'm lost?

I think if the conversation in here gets too heated or adverse in nature the people running the site will shut it down rather than see things get out of hand.

Please do not speak of things you do not know! Dan Powell is pushing atleast 70 trust me I have some of his birds. Anyone who would like to know the truth go to www.oneearthfarm.com and go to the (Contact Us) and you will see a picture of him and his wife on the right side of the page. I swear some people.

i believe the mature people pictured on Dan Powells site are family members,I do believe that Dan is a younger fellow, there are other pics on his site, and the fact that he is moving on to other projects as stated on his website in the contact us, where he states same, supports our point. As far as big medecine developing the silver laced brahma. If you go back in the archives you will read conversations between them where they discuss thier birds. While Dan did work some with the silver laced, big medecine spent 20+ years devoted to that project. Actually I believe I remember Dan saying that he wanted to get some of big medecines birds to improve his own, tho im not sure of that fact.We deff. do not want to slight big medecine for his project after being so devoted for so long. BTW big meds name is Gary Imwalle.

I speculate that the older couple that are pictured on the "One Earth Farm" website are the folks that purchased Dan's unique Llama herd, although I do not know that for certain.
I know Dan personally and not just through the web. I consider him a friend and have visited his farm more than once. It is quite picturesque. His photo is on the One Earth Farm website.
It is unfortunate that the hobby has lost Dan's talents for the time being. He is an exceptional individual.

i quite agree that dans loss to the hobby, tho hopefully temporary, is a significant one.Dan is indeed an exceptional guy and he has been very helpful to many here in BYC. I hope he renews his involvement in the future.

Hi, I'm new to BYC and am a Buff Brahma owner. My sister got me into chickens, and I fell head over heels for this breed. I currently have one Roo, 4 hens, and week old chicks. And 3 Americaunas that are around 3 months old. I am starting my second batch of incubation eggs for my son's class starting tomorrow. I can't believe how fun it is to show them off to the kids at school. Some kids have never ever even seen a live chick. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?????
I love being able to show my Brahmas because they are so friendly and not skitish around the kids. What great chicken ambassadors

I am new to this, but to me it is normal. I have ordered Buff Brahma chicks (love them!!!) and got a few darker ones. I also hatched some and one of them is signficantly darker than the others. Since I have two boys they all got Star Wars names. His name is Heavy, even though he's the smallest of the hatch.
We got our Dark Brahma Pullets in the mail today and one of them is a lot darker than the others, is this a normal color varience (it has feathered feet too)? There was 1 extra than what we ordered, so I'm not sure if they are all pullets or if 1 is a rooster. Is there anyway to tell before thier feathers come in?
Thanks a bunch
