I don't know enough about turkey eggs or cats to comment on either. Hatching eggs in general should be kept clean, not washed. The best way to accomplish that is to provide lots of clean straw or shavings in the nest, and collect eggs as frequently as possible. Rainy/muddy weather can make keeping eggs clean difficult. I can't really imagine any good excuse for sending eggs in THAT condition? I would hope the seller is just completely ignorant as opposed to intentionally trying to rip someone off. Not that that would make it right. Chalk it up as lesson learned. Shipped eggs are a gamble. Reputation of the seller is so important.

Sorry it happened to you though.....

Tim

Hatching eggs are a gamble, the last light Brahma eggs i bought hatched out babies with feathers that started coming in gold green feet and mohawks lol

Tim I bought Turkey eggs and they where filthy the lady sent this photo as Proof the dirty eggs hatch Not only that 9 where busted 6 cracked and it was not cheap Do you know anyone that sells turkey eggs for 4h Kids . this is her photo of Proof
Im actually scared to buy any more eggs this seller came from here BYC and is on the ABC list
Turkey eggs are naturally very heavily mottled and by looking at these pics its difficult to tell what is dirt and what is mottling.

Those look really dirty. Our turkeys have lots of speckling on theirs but you can tell the difference between that and dirt lol. I am always surprised at how dirty our ducks eggs get and they still hatch them okay.

I remember seeing photos of some ducks pipping out of eggs that where sunk maybe up to 1/4 of their diameter down in the mud bottom of the nest. Any bodies guess how long since that hen had last been able to rotate those eggs, but they were hatching, none the less.

Does anyone know the temperament of Buff Brahma roos? A coworker of mine said that hers was a terror; he'd chase her and her sons around the yard and leave them scratched and bruised. She eventually had to get rid of him. And yet all the things I've read say that Brahmas are sweet and mellow for the most part. True???

mine dosent cause any trouble, but dosent like me to try and hold him or anything. Once i catch him though then he just calms down and lets me pet him and is fine.

Quote: Put it this way this is what she hatches and mine came worse i did how ever get a scratch pad to take off some of the poop. anyway she is gonna Sue me for posting photos she sent after the fact to prove they will hatch . I am laughing because i ordered 2 dozen for my 4h kids they each paid 3.00 for eggs i bought an extra dozen so that the kids would insure they would get a turkey or 2 i can not raise them at my home so i hope she does not mind that 3 of them belong to 2 attorneys LOL

I can't imagine someone sueing over eggs. Maybe dirty eggs are common for turkeys? I do not know. I just think when ordering eggs you should be fully aware they will most likely NOT hatch. You can then be pleasantly suprised IF some actually do. Tell her you will take down the photos. Not really worth a law suit. Is it??? Over EGGS.....
