I think you are correct in calling it a Blue Columbian. The areas that are normally black in a Light Brahma are blue. This would be a rare color pattern in the USA. I'm not sure it even exists here in any developed status. I'm guessing you didn't obtain him in the US, or he was imported. To be fair he should be judged by the standard in his area of origin. One potential problem going by the APA standard, is that he looks that he may have some mild vulture hocks, which is a disqualification. It is hard to tell for sure from the angle of the photo, but the heavy leg feathering probably is a clue as well. His wings appear a little low set but again, that's just looking at a single moment in time that the photo captured. I like his height, although he is probably set too high on his legs which makes his breast appear flat. After all the nick picking, when I saw his photo he gave quite a favorable impression. He has the "majesty". Enjoy his chicks, show winners or not, this is the most personable breed I've kept.
