I think he is talking about sex link chicks? Buff to light produces buff females and light looking males so I have been told...
You're are exactly right. I am going to have around 70 chicks within the next month so I need to start selling a few so the feed bill doesn't kill me LOL. I'm going to probably only hatch any eggs I get within the next month and then call it enough. I may hatch out only my one pen after that or if the whole $10 thing works out nicely then I would be willing to hatch the other pen too and sell as soon as they hatch. It's quite convenient that they can be sexed at hatch.

I know what you mean. Went from a flock of 12 to 70 myself. Those3 month birds, all they do is eat eat eat!

They are only sex-linked when Light and Buff varieties are crossed. Your bird is too young to tell.

I know as you are the one that explained it to me....lol What I don't know is how that affects the pullets, will they breed true?

You will have Buffs with the occasional white feathers and lights, especially males, with brassiness in the wingbows. I still have Buff males, seven or eight generations after such cross that crop up with white in the wings. Does not matter if you are simply a back-yarder. Requires lots of culling if you are in to the exhibition side of poultry.

I think i have 3 Males i have been working with my chicks and Mealy worms . Is this a mistake ?
they see me and run to me for the grub treats and then jump into my arms where i can pet them .
Loving them being so friendly but wondering if im making a mistake with letting them do so .

Hi,

here is my first Brahma hatch. I got the eggs from a friend and i'm in love with them since then.
