Good morning all. We got our Blue Columbian Brahmas this weekend, so that makes a total of 8 now. Our first 3 are only about 2 1/2 months old these are about 5 months I think. One is for sure not making it into the program, just egg layer I guess( wife loves her). I will post pics later so I can get suggestions. I plan on getting a nice Light to work on type with. They look pretty good but I am no expert.
No, they are 7 months old.

I knew that, apparently had a brain lapse.

Thank you by the way! They got into their new coop just for them last night and was settled nicely onto their roosts. There is now an Augsburger coop and a blue columbian brahama coop. In 2 weeks we will move the rest of the augs into the coop with Madam's Augs.

Broken hearted went out this am seen 15 eggs in the nest went out and now none my fav hen has egg all over her head .
so do i send her to the pot as she is just 6 months old or do i give her another day ? really in tears

Why did you have 15 eggs in a nest? Was another hen setting? If not, you should collect them more frequently if you are planning to hatch them(or eat them for that matter). An egg eater is a bad thing. Eggs are too valuable.

No we have 16 hens laying and they seem to play Musical nests out of 14 they all decide to pay in 1 or 2 in this case pretty weird but thats what they do

I normally go let them out at 6 pick up eggs go back at 12 and then again at 4 and some tmes their are eggs when i put them to bed ......... this is not norm for her to eat eggs ......... today doc appointment so i did not get them the second time

Maybe she got in the nest and with so many eggs accidentally broke them. I would just try to keep so many from collecting in a nest and see if it happens again. Don't be hasty.

Hey everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone would or knows of good breeders of standard brahmas down there the are willing to ship birds to Canada? I'm looking to get some new blood in my standard buffs and darks.
Thanks for any help!
Don

I think any chicken would eat a broken egg. The key, like someone else said, is not to let so many build up in a nest. She may have gotten a taste decided it was good, and ate them all.
