I had LF Lights from Darlene. I didn't appreciate at the time the temperament of that bunch. I'm not one who generally tries to make pets of out my chickens, but they were very curious and seemed to seek out some interaction. (Yea, I know they wanted food.) It added an enjoyable dimension to keeping them.

The one we got is very friendly also

That light hen in the second photo all the way to the right looks like she has a nice wide head. Are those blue Columbians I'm seeing in there?

Yes they are a mosh pit at the moment but we have BLue Columbians and the Light rooster you see, we bought from Darlene Hobbs to put over them to improve type and featherin and maybe a little size. We have 2 hens with some squirelly feathers but the rest look pretty good. We also have our Partidge Brahma Cockerel in there but his hen is not healthy and probably wont make the cut, we are looking for a nice replacement but havent found one yet.

So jealous of those blue Columbians. When crossing them with the lights what offspring do you get? I'm assuming it does matter which is the hen and which is the cock.

It will be a BBS genetics, so you will have Blues, Splashes and Blacks which are what a Light Brahma is.

Black? Now there's a thought. I wanted to make some various other colors but don't quite have enough space. I was told white Cochins will give a whole slew of colors. OF course to get some of them you'd need to hatch 1,000+just to see one or two of that pattern.

To clarify, black is referring to the Columbian pattern of the Light Brahma.

It will be a BBS genetics, so you will have Blues, Splashes and Blacks which are what a Light Brahma is.

Just pointing out you will not get splash from a blue / black breeding. Will not get splash till your first blue to blue breeding.
