Never seen a brahma THAT tall. Brahmas I see are in the 26-28' range for height, taller than Cochins, shorter than the Langshans generally. Remember the Standard doesn't say anything specific about height.

Edit: But yes, the first word that comes to mind when viewing a well bred Brahma is MASSIVE.
I always wonder when I see those great big brahma pictures whether they are doctored or real.

I just grabbed Samson and measured him. I'm sure he was not standing tall because I had to hold him, but he came up to 28 inches on my yardstick. If I had about 5 more hands, I would have taken a picture, but he was not very happy about the whole thing. He weighs approximately 17 pounds (16.6 last summer when I weighed him).

The first picture with the law chair gives very good contrast for size comparison. He is a big boy.

I just ran out and measured mine as well. He's 26 inches, but he's only 7 1/2 months old. Like yours, mine wasn't thrilled about the whole yardstick thing, so I just watched him until he got somewhere with his head up where I could eyeball where his head was on the fence, then measured that. I tried holding him to measure, but he was having none of it. I think I'll try to get his weight this afternoon, but I'm pretty sure that he's around the 8-10 pound range. I have to lift them every night to put them to bed, so I'll just weigh him then (and check the hens weights as well). They are still pretty young so I'm not too concerned yet. It is an interesting exercise though!

One other thing I notice in the second picture is that it doesn't look like he has any feathers on his middle toe. I'm I seeing correctly? Mine has feathers on the outside half of his middle toe and I wondered which one was "normal"?

Brahmas were my first birds and i got 9 lf. Yes they get huge. Mine are 15 weeks and climb on top of our honda odyssey van. They are cool tho
