Two of my brahma roosters are trying to fight through the wire. Last time this happened they got staff and a few died. Should I just go ahead and treat for staff now?

Or just strap plywood to the wire so they can't see each other?

Contacted someone & posted a wanted ad on Craigslist for 2 dark Brahma roosters. If anyone knows of someone around the Elmira, NY to Binghamton, NY area that's looking to get rid of a couple of roosters, let me know! Need a little protection for my 15 free range hens.

Meet Popper! When we got her she was solid black with a yellow spot on her head. With her yellow beak, she looked so much like a penguin that we named her after Mr. Popper's Penguins. Now, at 4 weeks she doesn't look much like that baby anymore.

I had a few fighting thru the wire like that, i put plywood about24 inches high between them.

Here are a few of mine now. Just over 3 months old. I think hopefully one is a roo. Has a different tail then all the others. And is very wide.


See how that one on top has a different tail! Doesn't have the black feathers out the end like the rest of them. Tail is still pretty short. ROO???

my guess on that top bird would still be a hen.

At what age can you really tell sex on dark Brahma - do I have to wait for the wing feathers to start coming in?

I had a few fighting thru the wire like that, i put plywood about24 inches high between them.

I searched the property for spare wood today. I found some to put in between two of the pens I just need to do the other divider and it will be good. I think when I go back out tonight I will put the roosters and hens where they belong since now they won't be fighting. I took them and temporarily put them in the two far pens and left the lone hen in the center one. Need to swap the lone one and the one trio tonight.
