Almost 3 months old. Can't tell if it's a Hen or a Roo.

This one is a different chicken. It doesn't have the same tail style as the first one, almost like it doesn't have any feathers on the tail at all.
First one looks hen-ish, and the bottom pic looks to be a cockeral if you saying it doesn't have tail yet. NO expert here just a guess

Here's a little scamp I picked up at a swap. An impulse buy, if you will. Almost five weeks old, I believe - can you dark brahma experts hazard a guess as to gender? I love this little bird - it's such a sweetie. And LOUD. Those cheeps could shatter glass.

I'd guess it's a cockerel. Although not getting the black breast feathers yet, otherwise I'd be 100% sure. The pullets usually have more distinct almost barred markings on their wings, back and shoulders at that age.

I've been leaning toward cockerel, but I'll occasionally second-guess myself.

I just acquired my first Brahamas and man-oh-man are they sweet! I am so impressed with these babies that they may win my heart over from Cochins!

Brahmas are my favorites! They may grow slow, but they are sweethearts, fluffy, and if show quality, huge birds. ^^ They make good mommas too!

Got the new Scanner (The official Newsletter of the American Brahma Club) in the mail this morning.

Congrats to our own Tim Lindenborn for Champion Featherleg at the 2012 Fortworth Stock show, on a bantam buff male. And on recieving Master Breeder status, pretty rare company on that list.

Interesting reading all the past Brahma National Champions. I found very interesting that 4 out of 5 years from 2001-2005, darks won Champion large fowl. Especally considering the lights Bill Bowman, the Petersons, among others were producing during that period.

Also glad to see that a Brahma "Semi" National meet has been awarded to the Lucasville Ohio show Oct 5-6 this fall. I was thinking how fortunate I am to be into Brahmas, and be from this part of the country when reading the past Brahma National Champions list. Ohio, Indiana, area well represented.

The Scanner is just one of the benefits of joining the American Brahma Club, highly recommend it.

DITO!!!
I enjoyed reading my copy also!

Congrads Tim!!!

Thanks Gary and Kari. Like Gary says, the "Scanner" is just one of the many benifits of joining the American Brahma Club. I won't make the "semi" this year, but am making plans for the "BIG" show in 2014. Its shaping up to be a good one. Hope to see a bunch of you there. To join the club, you can follow the link in my sig line to the ABC website.

So that's what a 5ish week cockrel looks like? I got 10 pullets from a hatchery that almost always does a crappy job of sexing, so instead of ordering a couple of cockrals I figured I would get at least one or two in that bunch that were miss-labeled. Seems they did a good job this time
