My dark brahma Sassafras is the sole survivor of a bear attack. He/she is a little over 8 weeks old. Judging by what people have said about feather coloring, I'm thinking Sass is a he. Is it normal for dark brahmas to have brown in their wings? Can anyone tell me if I have a cockerel or a pullet?

Cockerel for sure.

My money is on cockerel. The brown should go when he moults in his adult plumage.

Maybe if I'm lucky I will get to compete with my self on the Brahmas. Last year I just went to go and there was only one in the junior and one in the open. I also will bring two Leghorns and a white non bearded silkie.

Thats NO fun. Not really a win if there is no competition.

My leghorns are actually calmer than the Brahma's.
