I'm thinking as he matures he will shoot some bright orangey saddle feathers. Can be pretty eye catching, one benefit of gold.

How do their eyes look in person ? The photo maybe caught them blinking, or something.

the eyes look good, its just that i'm not good at taking good pictures, i did notice that the "third" eyelid was showing in the roosters pic, didn't notice in the hens pic, to be honest, was trying to get a good picture of the feathers, the hen is really marked, the rooster is plain right now, but i wanted to show you the red, more than the gold or orangey. i will continue to take pictures as they age, to show the difference.

I think the NPIP testing is a Great Idea , But they should test for all the Diseases and not just one or 2 and say Your birds are clear ,
I am still just devostated and Mis my chickens and turkeys ,

no fresh eggs and no rooster to wake me up i am actually in tears writing this ,

I just wish the government would do their full job and not just Half of it .

I had to cull my entire flock once to fix a MS issue. The good news that I was told was that mycoplasma doesn't survive long in the environment. I cleaned up the place and brought in hatching eggs three weeks later to the garage. After hatching I started using my coop again, without any signs of illness. Nothing picks up your spirits like watching chicks in the brooder.
I don't know that there is one answer to how to manage health issues. Obviously old timey breeders that kept lines for 50 years must have encountered disease multiple times. I suspect each flock built up a unique resistance and thrived in good health. The problems seem more likely to rear up when a member of that flock is mixed with a new flock. If they haven't been exposed to the same bugs before then an outbreak can occur. It has been my experience with aquariums and chicken coops to minimize imports, and be careful how you do it. But sometimes you do everything right and still get a bad result.
I wish I lived close enough to help you out with the fresh eggs. When I was out of layers for about six months a co-worker whom I had given some chickens, kept me in eggs. Check around, nobody should have to eat store bought eggs.

I wish the Government would mind their own business and get their nose out of ours.
i third that. Even if the government was to test for everything in all flocks they could still become infected in between testings it's up to each person to be vigilant with quarantine, the source of their birds and bio security. More regulations aren't the answer.

Is there anywhere online that has pics of the standard adult birds showing all the varieties of Brahmas????

I did some googling but couldn't find anything that showed them all.

TIA

I really don't want the government to babysit me or my birds, AND I don't think my tax dollars should go for them to babysit anyone else's. It is a livestock or pet owners responsibility to maintain the health of their own animals.
