I really don't want the government to babysit me or my birds, AND I don't think my tax dollars should go for them to babysit anyone else's.  It is a livestock or pet owners responsibility to maintain the health of their own animals.

I was not knocking NPIP. I was just pointing out it is not required in every State to show. Also, just because someone is not NPIP in no way indicates their birds are sickly, sub-par birds. My birds are inspected for p/t every year. Its my duty as a responsible breeder to insure my birds are healthy, disease free. I can hear the groans now, but here you go. The great poultry man and author, Fred Jeffery often stated, "the ax is the exhibitors best friend". Birds with chronic respiratory ailments should be culled. I have found it to be true.

I agree do what they were hired to do within the guidelines of the Constitution.

the state vet todl me about it but you can not eat the eggs not sure for how long or if that is perminant ,

Just something you are continually fighting. Hard to get rid of, somthing that is passed on to the next generation(typically respiritory). You can waste a lot of time and money trying to save a bird and you would be time and money ahead just killing it. Better overall flock health is the result.

Yes I agree, I have culled many birds that just seemed to never be as strong as their hatch mates. Always a bit behind or so.

Gallimycin is a Med that will help but not cure and after you can not eat the eggs ,
I have called the lab to see if it would stop the hens disease from spreading to the egg , It will not there for i am turkey, chicken less .

Issue new bag of Chick starter AB 1 hr later death of 3 chicks and growing moved chicks and cleaned up all food and water the feed and water containers also Brand new came with Brooder and i thought food in this case i sent both food and chicls to Lab for tests and Neucroptsy told the company PAYBACK and they responded fast,
also gong to do tests , If it is the chicks I Quit until i move if its the food i Quit till i can move either way its a Pain in the Arse ,

I have 2 Brahma Icelandics. One, Harmony, is smoky black and the other, Little Bo is silvery grey. I have yet to see any Icelandic in them.

That would be Ruby my RIR in the front and Little Bo in the back.

And Matilda my lap chicken!
