What Tim says is true. I had one judge fault my bird's size and give them Ch. Feather-legged.

Yesterday was the big cockerel cull. Unfortunately, the smaller boys just didn't have the broad backs, tail spread and heads.... the more substantial cockerels had. I think I culled 15 of 20 cockerels and had to stop there.

I also find that as much as breeders seem to obsess over small tight combs, the judges don't seem to nit-pick nearly as much.

Check with Alibris or Half.com but I find all the used books from different sellers run pretty much the same. Amazon is also a good source.

Yes, thats one thing that drives me crazy....the mis-shapen oversized comb. You are correct...judges(well most of them) don't seem to mind. GOOD judges tell me its the over-all bird and a slightly off comb is a minor thing. Still bothers me??

I'm going to try showing this fall. I'm really nervous about it, I won't have any idea what I'm doing. I think I know how to get the birds ready, but have no idea what to do when I get there. I'm going to try to get to a show this spring so that I can observe and ask questions. Anyway, I'm saying all of this because I really appreciate hearing your experiences.
