Lucky you!! Those birds were GORGEOUS! So lovely that my BF has decided we must have one (and the chicken thing is "my" thing -

). The next time I have a broody, you may be hearing from me! That was our first show, too, and I didn't know they would be for sale at the end or you may have had some competition! Let us know if you suddenly decide, "wait, I really only wanted three, now what to do with that extra hen......?"

HI - Yeah I felt bad knowing what I didnt take you may - but I have been chasing these birds for a while. Maybe next year I will have some chicks if you are still interested? I have hatchery birds I am getting rid of, bt they are not show quality. I liked the Pullet you all got, but the third place bird had more of what I wanted to Breed, so you may have a good show prospect. Brahmas rock!

Nope, that wasn't me. I escaped the show with NO NEW CHICKENS! I'm pretty impressed with myself, actually. Send me some pics of the ones you are getting rid of. I'm not into showing, just like the looks of the Brahmas. I'd actually prefer a few fertile eggs rather than chicks if I get the SQ ones from you. I have found letting my broody take care of the babies she hatched SO MUCH EASIER than having chicks in my house for 6 weeks. Plus she beats the tar out of the other chickens when they peck at the babies.

Remember that a really nice showbird might not be as good as a breeder than the bird who finished right behind it.

:Well guys I wanted to give an update!
I drove the distance and went to the Ohio Nationals. There I met with Kendra Aldrich who owns nearly all the Bill Bowman Brahmas.

She was super nice and I brought home with me 4 Light hens and a huge rooster! These are some of the biggest birds I have ever seen. I have to weigh the rooster. I'm sure he is 15-20 pounds.

I am the proud owner of some of the nicest brahmas in America!

They are so incredible, and not at like like any other brahmas I have owned or seen. They are so sweet and calm. At the show she sat them down right outside in the middle of the craziness to show them to me, and they didnt even try to run off. I can walk into their pen and pet them, and do chores and I have to step over them because they are so tame. The rooser is the most impressive looking bird I have ever seen. Words can't describe.

Kendra won something but I can't remember what lol. I think it was Best of Breed or Reserve Variety or both. I'll have to find out.

Can't wait for the ladies to start laying so m projects can get started

These are pretty poor pictures but they are all I got right now.

The wind was blowing, it was almost dark, and it was freezing cold so they are all hunkered down, with their tails tucked and the wind is blowing their feathers everywhere.

Rooster. Up towards his front he is not black. The wind is blowing his feathers up and you can see his gray undercoat.

The saddle feathers are so beautiful how each feather has a perfect little black arrow surrounded by white.
They all have nice wide tails. Especially the rooster his is just awesome.

A hen. Her tail is not as laced as some of the others. But she is still pretty.

A pair. You can see a nice laced hen tail on the right side.

So pretty.

Can't wait to see what they look like after they finish molting, and actually carry their tails up like they are suppose to. They are all a little sluggish from the stress of the trip, but hopefully they will settle in quickly! (And start laying... )

SO jealous of you!! And congrats too, those are very nice! The coloring especially is the most remarkable I've ever seen.

Still, I like a little more leg length in Brahmas, but those certainly are amazing!! Again, congrats.
