...Here are a few of my light brahma girls and a young boy...
they are just pets for me and eggs, we love em, have always had
birds on the farm, but these are our first brahmas.

could I get a critique please? I dont show birds, Im not going to
start showing, I show horses and thats all the competition I can
handle LOL but, if the grandkids wanted to bring some in 4H or
the county fair would these girls be good enough?

they were hatched June 14th, they are just starting to shape up.
get their rumpy feathers etc.

this roo is younger, cant remember exactly...aug or sept. he is a leggy bugger LOL
looks like a teenage boy. the little pullets next to him are his same age and way
smaller. I dont feel most of those girls are going to be as good as the first
batch was. but we will see.

Will give you a critque, I am a long time breeder of Brahma.
The looks of these say they are hatchery birds and don't see where you say. If you notice the female have the blade tail and it should be like an inverted U very open and well feathered. You need more feather on the entire leg, the Heads are small even though they are young. Don

Would youy say that leg feathering in Brahmas is similar to Cochins ie. the more the better....?

No, not like cochins. Brahma should be up off the ground and should have more soft feathering than these exhibit. The main thing on these is tail shape and head size. Also the middle toe should be feathered. Don

THANK YOU SO MUCH !! do you have a link or pic of a proper tail? ive heard this "inverted U" comment
but have no idea what it means. sorry

yea they are young girls, just my pets, no I didnt say where I purchased them, ive noticed
if you say they are from a known breeder or a hatchery, people have pre conceived notions
and I wanted an open critique.

so I didnt want to say I got them from so and so, and people come on and say they are
hatchery garbage and have the guy be mad. lol

would it be an embarrassment to take them to the local fair? are they to bad for that?

ps, I have googled and can NOT find a photo of the standard? i find written standards
but that doesnt mean a lot to me.
