Nadine do you have Brahmas too? I have 6 Brahma hens all from hatchery stock as they needed a new home so being a softee I took them, well one did hatch here. But I love their gentleness, and their size is impressive too. Sadly the only roo I had was a light and he was mean, and tormented my bantams so he went to freezer camp. I would like to have nothing but brahmas one day.

I started out with those lovely buff Brahmas from the hatchery. I was so impressed by them and had such good reports from folks that had gotten a few chicks from me that I have now decided to see about working with dark Brahmas. My DH loves the roos coloring and I just love Brahmas!!!
So now I have dark Brahma eggs in the 'bator and will work to find more hatching eggs so I can have a few lines to work with.

turrbrahma, I know i was surprised about how my light roo turned out, we got him at 3 mos. along with a pullet and he started actually attacking me first, then went after my dh, but the straw that broke the camels back was when her scalped my little frizzle and then the rest of my bantams wouldn't come out of the coop because of him, All my chickens live together so I had no choice as to separating them, so we just decided to process him, I am wondering if he was frustrated because he was submissive to my head roo at first but by the time he was 9-10 mos. old they were fighting. I was disappointed in the way he turned out because I had always heard them called gentle giants. Well maybe one day I can try again, when we don't have bantams. [I love bantams too] Nadine please post pictures when yours hatch. Another BYCer on here dsqard, has some darks, lights and buffs she hatched looking forward to seeing how they turn out, and yours too. Thanks a newbie who loves this breed.
