Here's Melody, possibly Mango. The feathering has me stumped. S/he is 3 weeks old exactly in these photos. Look at the back feathers come in fast!
Picked from the pullet bin too. It's driving me crazy not knowing the sex. This one is feathering very oddly!

My second brahma. I have a dark brahma hen that's a year old.

I love seeing the photos of everyone's Brahmas. So beautiful. I can't wait until mine grow up. I believe I may have one cockerel out of my Brahmas.

I believe this is my cockerel, but not sure. (Sorry, picture is fuzzy.) He doesn't have any back or tail feathers yet, while all the others do. Thoughts?

I think you have a boy too. Darn it, I was hoping I had a boy. Mines 3 weeks old, but has all her back feathers in and a tail before her wing bows. Maybe I'll end up with a boy. I doubt it, she acts like a hen.

These Dark Brahma are 3 wks old now. Can you tell male from female yet? I would think female except 2 of them are so BIG. The size of our huge Cuckoo Marans rooster when he was this age. So the size makes me think male. I love this breed so far. Such chunky little babies.

They look like female to me. Here's mine at 3 weeks or so. Very similar.

Are Brahma's typically noisy? When I first got my dark brahma I was under the impression they were a fairy quiet breed.

Well, Cookie my dark brahma is far from quiet. She is the top hen out of 8, which she is a very good top hen and not bossy. However, from the time she wakes up until the time she goes to bed, she is very loud and it's constant. The only time she's quiet is laying an egg. She does not sing the eggs song after either.

Cookie has a constant BRAAAAAW, BRAAAAAW, BRAAAAAAW, BRAAAAAW.... Noise and it's so loud my neighbors hear it too. Even when free ranging, which alerts those darn hawks there's food near by.

I absolutely love her and bought a light brahma. I often wonder if my light brahma will make the same noises. It wouldn't be so bad if we were on a farm, but we're not.

Anyone else have a noisy brahma?

She's louder then a rooster.
