Who will be bringing brahmas to the Buckeye Fancy Feathers Show. It is tomorrow at 7265 Columbiana Canfield Rd Canfield Fairgrounds, Canfield, OH. I really want to find some one with light brahmas to buy.
I'm sure there will be plenty. Don't know if anyone will have any for sale this time of year though. You can at least meet some breeders of quality birds. Be prepared to pay if someone does have birds for sale. I would think fifty would be the low side for good quality large fowl. Join the Brahma Club.

I'm not looking for top of the line brahmas right now. All I want is a decent 25 dollar bird. Just good enough to be some what of a competitor at a poultry show. My rooster I got this year was only $25 and He is beautiful. The breeder I got him from had nice birds that have won at shows. I wish I had more of his birds because the were nice looking and he did give me hatching eggs. I killed them on the first night because my incubator quit heating

. I think i"ll just try my luck at this show and see what I get.

Question for you guys. I have Light , buff and Dark Brahmas. Light are looking really good (thank you Bigdawg) darks are also SQ, buffs, Well some are looking good and some have to go, but due to lack of room(also call to many chickens). I was ging to keep the light cockrels and just run hens of all 3 colors together. I've been told you can breed lights and buffs, another person told me I could breed Lights and Darks but not buffs. If I run all together how bad will I mess up my dark and buffs.

Like the old saying goes..."you will have what you will tolerate."

Only two LF brahmas that weren't for sale

. There's a swap coming up soon in my area and I'm going to call and see when and where it is. Hopefully this swap will yield better results.

Has any one bought buff brahams from Darlene Hobbs?
I know Darlene. She is a master breeder and exhibitor in the ABA and one of the top points people in the American Brahma club. Her birds are top quality, and I would highly recommend her. I have not bought birds from her. I did sell her some light bantams at Crossroads last year.

Well....I got hens from her at the ohio national and the biggest only weighs 6 pounds 11 ounces. It was hatched spring of 2011. Do you think she will eventually weigh enough? My rooster is from Ron Yochum. Now this is a big bird. He weighs 11 pounds and is really pretty. The only thing that I was told that is wrong with him is his tail is too narrow and his comb might be too big.

I have no idea if she will eventually weigh enough. Standard weight is eight pounds for a pullet. I don't know how healthy they are or what you are feeding. I would be more concerned about a narrow tail than a too large comb. I wide tail is a hallmark of a high quality Brahma. The comb is a finer point that can be worked on. I would just try and get the tail right first. If you don't have a standard, you should get one. Fix in your mind what a good brahma should look like, and work to that end.

I was planning on breeding for a wider tail and more size at first. On ebay i was planning on getting 10 PUREBRED LIGHT BRAHMA INCUBATOR CHICKEN HATCHING EGGS from chickeneggs123. This will give me the size...hopefully. Tail I just plan on getting three off my birds with the widest tail breed them and go from there.
