I am not well experienced yet but it seems like having a wide head and a nice brow are important. Another thing that I know is important is getting birds with enough size. Anything else I'm not sure about just make sure your birds are free from general defects.

I am far from expert either but here are a few things I was told to watch for. wide heads with a deep heavy brow, Inverted U shaped tail in hens feathered middle toe of course size

Great thread though, I really like brahmas, I've had chickens for about a year.

Ok, so I have a BR. If I cross it with a Ameraucana hen, will i get brahma-like-eggs or eeeggs?

Would you get feathered feet (is that dominant) and colored eggs?

I think feathered legs is dominate. I have been thinking of crossing a silkie and a Brahma. Incubators are stressful to use so I want to make a few extremely broody birds. That might be an interesting looking bird though .....

So... Wide head and heavy brow... Can anyone post a couple Picts and add some evaluation comments? That would help me understand the difference.

I think my rooster has a nice head and brow. Not sure if its enough or not. I will get pictures for you.

Feathered legs are definitely dominant. Feathered leg breed X any none feathered leg breed will give feathered leg offspring, with usually less feathers than the feathered leg parent

I'm just curious, do all Light Brahmas go through a very "rumpled" looking stage about 9 weeks? My little Brahma is a walking fluffball, Granted, it has been windy when she's been outside free-ranging, but even inside, she's got feathers sticking out all over the place.
