Hi everyone!

I just wanted to post an update on my Brahma that I was unsure about. I posted pictures a few weeks ago and I was still unsure as to gender. We all had mixed opinions.

Well, she laid her first egg yesterday evening. I knew it was the chicken in question, because I saw her in the nest box singing and when she came out, there was an egg!

Thank you to all who looked at her pictures and helped me out! :)

Here is Georgina, looking quite proud of herself...

Is that the one Petvet12 thought was a male?

Thanks for the congrats!

Yes, that is the one that several people speculated to be male. I know it was she who laid the egg, as I watched her come out of the next box myself!

~By the way, this is Sk8inchick(en). I just didn't realize this was a family member's account I was logged on to!~

These are my two bantam buff Brahma roosters from my John Neff chicks (got lucky with only 2 roosters out of 8) and I am trying to decide which one is the keeper. Rooster # 1 is smaller, less full bodied, but has better color and holds his tail higher. Rooster # 2 looks a little large to me but has a wider head and body. I really don't know all of the things I should be looking for so some help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

They are too young to tell. From your photos its hard to even tell they are cockerels. As far as #1 having better color, neither are showing male color at all yet. Bantam buffs are slow to get adult plummage. You just have to be more patient. How old are they?
