Brahma with scaly leg

Children's head lice shampoo has spinosad in it. You might look into that. I would use it full strength by coating the legs and feet after Epsom salt soaking, leaving the undiluted shampoo on for a few hours before rinsing off.
I just had a thought. My daughter caught nits at school a while back. I'm wondering if I can find the spray we put on her if that would also work. Not sure where it is though. I'll have to see what it contains.

Just found it. It doesn't contain spinosad and funnily enough it hasn't been tested on animals!

And it smells nice!

Went to the Tractor Supply couldn’t find anything like this. So they reccomended the chicken powder for mites and lice. We shall see if that works. Gonna reapply in 3 days if no improvements will change strategies. Also mixed with bag balm for coating their legs and feet. This is Day one. Also seen just how under nourished these babies are. They have NO fat whatsoever.

Oh my. I'm so happy you got these hens now. They are in such a sorry state. You can see that they haven't been able to scratch in the dirt for a long time by the length of the claws. I'm trying to think how I would deal best with this. Personally I would give them ivermectin and lather there legs in vaseline. You can also use caster oil or olive oil. I would do this every day for at least a week or two. They may need to have there legs soaked first in warm water to try and loosen off the dead skin. Don't pull any scales off. Give them a complete feed like flock raiser and not to many treats. They will need the full benefit from there feed. When I got my rescue hens I gave them a poultry tonic in the water to replace minerals and promote feather growth. The ivermectin should be good for worming as well, but if you can get a poop sample tested it will tell you if there are any worms or other problems present. If you are using powder on them it needs to be permethrin. DE dust just won't make any difference. Give them a little time and they will bounce back.
