Braining

Good morning everyone I have a Question to ask

Has anyone heard about a technique for killing your chickens called Braining, supposedly there is a way of inserting a fine blade knife into the roof of the chickens mouth and into the brain the kills the chicken and causes the birds muscle to go limp and make plucking almost effortless I'm curious to find out if anyone is practicing this method of even if they have heard about it

I'm not sure how any method of killing would make plucking easier, let alone "effortless". Whereas there may be some truth to making the chicken go limp (I wouldn't know), there certainly can't be any truth to making the chicken easier to pluck. Dead is dead, and feathers are feathers.

LOTS of people get terrible results, and personally, I'd never do it.

Done properly it kills the bird and allows you to slit its throat while hanging to thoroughly bleed out the meat without the flopping around. And it does make the feathers stand out were it seems a little easier to pluck after scalding, it does not replace scalding.
