Hello you can call me Mic (pronounced Mick, that's just how everyone spells it), and I'm clearly new to raising chickens..

I have 2 straight run silkies (coop ready), but I'm pretty sure one is a male. Just got them today and need some advice. I heard some on bathing them with Dawn dish soap and drying with a hair dryer, but I'd like a little more info, not just bathing, but for raising and caring for them.

I'd also like some advice for egg layers because we're getting 4 of them in the near future.

After I learned more about silkies, I am highly interested in breeding, so advice for breeding as well?

Thanks!

~Mic

Hi Mic and welcome to BYC.

I'd suggest that you re-post your question on the forum "Raising baby chicks". There should be no need to bathe chicks at all.

The Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced chicken keepers - loads of info on anything chicken. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Joining your state thread will put you in contact with other BYC members in your area, which can be very helpful.

The members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best
