Hi All,
I figured I'd try to introduce myself by following the template given. Not much to add to it however as we haven't ever done this before.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We're brand new. I'm an administrator and teacher in a Montessori school in Chiang Mai Thailand. I would love to have chickens for their many benefits to our children here. Animal/Pet care, Biology, History, Mathematics and Business are some of the areas of possible study and involvement that our children can gain from having chickens.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None yet, but we're working on it!
(3) What breeds do you have?
We need to find breeds that are able to take the heat and weather that Northern Thailand provides. We also need to make sure that the birds are strong, resistant to disease, and also like to be cuddled (we're dealing with some small children after all).
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Internet search
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Hiking/Camping, photography, travel.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Proud parents of 6 small dogs and 2 cats. My wife and I are both teachers and I have found myself now in Administration. We've moved to Thailand and been here about 4 months after living in Tokyo Japan for the past seven years. My wife is German and I come from the great State of Michigan in the US. Thailand is a much different place than what we're used to. The heat here can be rough. But, Chiang Mai is a beautiful place with wonderful easy-going people.

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. I guess your most ideal "breeds" will be those locally available - kinda survival of the fittest, so to speak.

Here’s a link to the Articles section - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/ There you’ll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping chickens - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs.

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

All the best
