Pudding:

Eggs: 6
Milk: 2 cups
Brown Sugar: 2 cups
Vanilla Extract: 1 teaspoon
Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
Nutmeg: 1 teaspoon
Bread, 3 cups, cubed

Streusel:
Brown Sugar: 1/3 cup
Flour: 2/3 cup
Butter: 1/3 stick

Preheat oven to 350degrees, Fahrenheit.
Grease 8x8 glass baking pan
Whisk together eggs, milk, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour over bread, stir, and allow to sit at least 15 minutes.
Mix together streusal ingredients until crumbly.
Pour pudding mixture into pan. Top with streusal. Bake up to 40 minutes.

Yes and yes. It is a dessert and a breakfast food. It is eaten hot or cold.

We always had our's as dessert, made with raisins (yuck!), and drizzled with a rum or a caramel sauce.
I have never seen it with a streusel on top, I bet that is good!

You've probably not seen it with streusel because this is my own, original recipe.

OMG! I hate raisins too ... therefore we make chocolate bread pudding. We put cocoa in with the milk and eggs and then layer chocolate chips throughout the bread. Served with a big dollop of vanilla ice cream while it's hot and you have a dreamy dessert.

This weekend I made this, it was so easy and really good! I was able to get rid of some hamburg rolls and bread that probably would have ended up in the trash.

Is the butter quantity correct? I had to add more butter to get the crumbly struesel.

This is definitely a recipe that one can easily add other ingedients to, I could definitely picture apples.
