go rodandbrandy and go asher! Proud mother who nursed for eight and half years and loved every minute of it and whose children still remember the love!
btw no one is sayng reasts arent sexual or men dont like breasts, but we are saying that you can enjoy your sexuality in adult privacy and still find nursing, the act of nursing babies, people, to be appropriate family business. If feeding children isnt appropriate family viewing then what on God's green earth is?!
Nowhere but in te U.S. could this conversation even be going on! Have you people who thinkk feeding babies is so dirty and provocative ever been anywhere else?
I have breastfed or seen breastfeeding in let me count - five different European countries, where everyone stops to talk about your baby while you feed, Mexico, where grandpas and grandmas patted me on the head and smiled, and seven countries in Africa where everybdy calls you sister or mama and kisses your babys feet while you nurse.
The only place I know of where you REALLY would get in trouble is Saudi Arabia, but then -Oh dear - WOMEN CANT DRIVE THERE EITHER!
Gee, guys, maybe we should just wear a burka with a little netting to see out of and that would help you all.
grr. btw, I'm not only a nurser, but a nurse too, like an R.N., like lots of you, my peeps. and we nurses on this board can tell you that people who are uncomfortable with their bodies, in all their glory, and can't talk about them or see themselves as anthing but shameful, are generally the ones in ill health as they go on.
Maybe I'll surrender my drivers' license - and who really needs the right to vote!?
Despite all the good jokes about canteloupes and ice cream scoops, we all know tat helathy men can see things both ways. Nursing is neither sexy or dirty. It's human parenting at its best.
Geez, Louise!
Love.
