I am discreet and incredibly modest, but I would breastfeed where ever and whenever my child(ren) needed to eat, but I very rarely fed them in the bathroom. I definitely wasn't trying to accomplish anything other than feed my child. I definitely wasn't trying to attract a man.

I'm a woman, but it excites me when I see a woman breastfeeding. NO! Not like that! In a, I hardly ever see it way! I am always sure to go up and give them kudos, too!

So the minute your baby cried, you immediatley started to feed it? Only you believe that. You can't go somewhere private to feed your baby? What if a man decided he wanted to take out his genitial and scratch it in public, you would be OK w/that? After all it's natural...... Asher you were proud of the fact that you breast fed and wanted the world to see it..........at least deal w/reality.

I'm not against breast feeding (as I had to convince my wife and her family to do it), it just doesn't need to be done in public.

Scratching genitals is not quite the same. It's not a neccesity. A child eating *is*.

I am absolutely proud that I breastfed my children. Wanted the world to see it? Honestly, if my child was hungry, I couldn't care less where I was, they were fed. And yes, as long as it was not me driving on a busy interstate, they would be fed when they cried because they were hungry. But I'm one of those fuh-reaky attachment parents who feed our kids when they're hungry. Gah!

You're dillusional if you think women breastfeed in public because they want people to see. You betcha, I timed my outtings just so my kids would be hungry so I could show off my boobs in public! WOOHOO! Party ovah HEYAH!

Yes, I pop my breast in my babies mouth as soon as he gets hungry. Otherwise my milk lets down and makes a mess

If I have access to a comfortable and clean sitting area away from all the hub-bub, I will take it. Not for fear of what people will think, but because it is more relaxing for me and baby.

If a man pulled out his genitals to scratch them... I'd look the other way. Probably after a

kind of a look.... I'd have a hard time hiding it. But, if he wasn't trying to do anything sexual.... I'd assume maybe he REALLY needed to do what he did for whatever reason he had, or maybe he was just a wee bit mental...

Some of these responses have gotten extreme. I breastfed my children exclusively for six months. According to at least one person here I should not have left the house because I might have to feed my child in public. I fed my children in restaurants, libraries, malls, parks and other places. With my second child, to not nurse in public would have meant my 3 1/2 year old wouldn't have gone out in public for 6 months. For my comfort, I covered myself; but it is possible that I flashed for a moment when getting the kiddo in place. I did not do this to titilate or tease; but to provide the best nourishment possible for my children. Check out some of the studies and statistics on breast feeding. It is the best possible food for babies, confers numerous health benefits, is financially sound and helps bond with your child. These websites list some of the benefits of breastfeeding; the second is particularily good since it gives benefits and challanges of breastfeeding and formula feeding.

Should women be discrete, probably; should people get over the offense, certainly. As for the lady at the library, maybe she was completely unaware of the show she was providing. Considering that many libraries don't have filters on their computers....you could have seen much worse.

yes I breast fed in public. I see nothing wrong with feeding my baby if he or she is hungry. Do I feed automatically if the baby cries? no, I try to see what is wrong first.

Reality is that some woment bottle feed, some breast feed. If I breast feed and have to do it discreetly, then the bottle fed mothers need to also. I do not want my kids to see a baby getting fed by a bottle.

Scratching ones genitals, while natural, isn't a necessity. Eating is. If a baby is getting all of his/her nutrients from breastmilk, breastfeeding is a necessity.

Now that I think about it, everybody should not eat in public. I don't need to see somebody's open mouth. or listen to them argue.

I agree it should be done discreetly. Hell, I've seen outfits (and not just on tv) that showed more boob than any breastfeeding mom I've ever seen.

the reality is that the only place in the world it seems that breastfeeding in public is a bad thing is in the US.
