Second batch of Bredas of the season produced a cool color palette on this little guy

Either a cuckoo or a mottled....eggs got a bit mixed up in the bator.. oops

And looks like the double head dot is going to be a regularly seen patten...got two more of those. it would be nice if they are always the roosters, that would mean sexable chicks! Crossing fingers....

Update on color development....I was worried about all the solid white and black but see how the white is mottling to black and visa versa? Can't wait to see him grown! He will be my first mottled chick. (Hoping for rooster).. last pic is how he looked a few months ago..

New Dickey's incubator is loaded, and my shippping boxes and NPIP certification finally arrived! Have chicks and young birds available. Many more hatching on the 30th March, and the 18th of April. PM me for details / reservations /prices. All have had their Marek's vaccine. Youngest I am comfortable with sending is two weeks old. I am in California 95638 if you want to look up shipping prices to your zip code. They must go Express.

Wow! You really got serious on getting setup for sales! Very very nice! I've got Blue Amer and Blue Breda juvies getting shipped to me next week from CO. The NPIP breeder had me check our CA State Vet ofc to make sure there were no import restrictions in our County before sending me the birds. The only restriction in our L.A. Co. is that the birds be tested and certified clear of AI and Newcastles before entering the County.

AI has really put a dent on the poultry hobby not to mention the 1000's of commercial birds - especially turkeys - that have been dying so fast from it! Foster Farms has an isolated turkey farm in CA that had to put down around 4,000 turkeys because of positive AI testing in the flock. 4 Midwest States have the new AI strain with MN losing over 10,000 turkeys in just a matter of a few days. I expect turkey prices are going up w/ so many commercial farms losing or euthanizing their poultry this year! What infuriates me is that the waterfowl that migrate and carry the disease aren't susceptible to the illness themselves - at least that's what it said on the news.

I love Amers and hopefully I will love the Breda which I never had one before. I will bookmark you for future orders if all works well w/ liking my Breda. I got my Amer and Breda from one breeder out of state because she had the Blues that I liked. I understand the Blue Bredas tend to be smallest of the Breda varieties but that's ok because my DH loves the color best and smaller birds happen to go better in our gentles backyard flock.

GL w/ your venture!

My blue girls are petite but they still lay a large egg in their second and third year almost daily :)
That's what dutchbunny said about her Breda - she got her eggs from CA - maybe even from you! She talked about her gentle little Blue Breda and said she was a bit of a loner as a pullet but integrated eventually w/ the rest of the flock. Dutchbunny said she wished she had kept more than just one Breda from her hatch - she regretted selling all but the one pullet.
