I hope so. It stinks cause if they all hatch tomorrow I'll be at work . I'll have to leave instructions for my husband since he is home on what to do

9 chicks.

Last 2 eggs are probably dead. No pips yet so I'm waiting another 4 days just to be sure

That is so great to get that many hatch! They all mottled so differently! Beautiful.

The humidity was good, one chick egg filled with blood. The other egg has some yuky pus stuff coming out of it. The other two that died died at 2 weeks as they were not fully developed. 9 so far hatched . Now hopefully they survive the next two weeks.

I hope so too!

Breda are such fantastic chickens that as long as their docile people/flock-frindly temperament doesn't get altered, new colors are always exciting. Sometimes engineering a new variety loses qualities of the original breed and temperament of the crossbreed is infused. I certainly noticed a big difference in personalities from the Blues vs the Cuckoo -- still gentle birds but definitely a difference in outgoing friendliness. Golden laced Wyandottes (and SLWs) are such gorgeous birds that they are often used for engineering new colors in breeds of chickens. I almost got RLB Wyan bantams 6 years ago but as fate/luck had it, a friend gifted me with two Silkie bantams instead which I have not regretted (the little Silkies have outlasted all other breeds in our backyard flock and are our oldest hens now). I digress LOL.

Getting back to Wyans, I have had a 50/50 feedback from owners of Wyans and Marans too and these breeds can be anywhere from good temperament to aggressive so I don't keep them or consider breeds that have been engineered using them as crossbreeds. I tried a Cuckoo Marans and she was the meanest bird I've ever had in a mixed flock and my friend re-homed her BCMs because they were such huge birds and aggressive to the smaller breeds in her layer flock. Tilly's Nest website years ago tried both SLW and GLW and shared they were her most aggressive breed among her Orps, Silkies, Sussex, EEs, and 'Lorps to the point she had to re-home the aggressive Wyans.

It hurts to re-home birds I get attached to but in the best interest of flock peace it's been necessary to eliminate certain assertive breeds mixed with docile breeds. There are always exceptions of one individual not having the usual breed temperament of her breed but normally I consider some breeds aggressive, some assertive, some moderate, some docile, and some completely gentle or skittish. And I certainly found out the hard way not to mix aggressive/assertive breeds with docile/gentle breeds - example, mixing assertive/aggressive Marans or Leghorns with gentle/docile Silkies, Breda, Ameraucana or EEs. Not all owners experience problems mixing a flock but in our very small flock, small backyard space, I found it best to keep only the utmost docile breeds.

What adorable curious faces! They look so fluffy!

I'm wondering if the chick with the heavy eyeliner will turn out female. Anyway to monitor or band it? In Partridge breeds (like Wellies) heavier eyeliner are usually girls. Breda are so different that all other breed rules go out the window haha!

Oh no rooster, how long was the power out?I would keep incubating, they should be ok.
Sylvester I wish breda were auto sexing or even sex linking. Would make it easier.
I'll just watch the eye liner one to see what it turns out to be

Don't give up. It's the internal temperature of the egg that matters. I've had power out for as long as 8 hours and not lost chicks. Clue for this situation. NEVER open the incubator to check on them if the power is out. If it's a small incubator and you expect a long outage wrap the incubator in a blanket or towels to keep heat in but leave a small area for air to enter.

It's a gqf sportsman cabinet incubator so it loses heat fast was off 2 hours Before I got a generator hooked up into it maybe they'll be okay
