I'm in a chicken drought where I can't find an applicable golden laced orpington rooster.
So what I did last year, was breed my golden laced hens to a buff rooster.

Well a while ago, those offspring mixed up with my barnyard mixes. I thought about abandoning the project, because I couldn't tell the difference, but I'm wondering if there's still hope.

My question is- who's more likely to be the golden laced x buff offspring?

The one with the black tails, or the one with the white tails

If that's even possible 🙄😬

Pics?

I'll get some when they roost, otherwise they're nutcases

They pretty much look exactly the same, but one has a white butt, and the other has a black butt.
Slate gray legs & medium size single comb
I am no chicken genetics expert, lol, but there are a lot of folks on here that are and I think pics would help😉

They've both got gray/pink feet -- rooster 1 has shorter legs, it appears... But I feel like rooster 2 may have gotten black genes (tail) from mother???

Rooster 1 has shorter comb
Rooster 1 has almost a lacing looking pattern on tail (buff on outside, white on inside)
Wheras rooster 2 has buff on outside, black on inside??

There are 2 possible mothers to these roosters - the laced girls, or the regular hatchery buff.
The father was a big huge orange guy that I pegged as possibly a huge hatchery buff. He is presumed deceased as he went to my husband's brother and he likes fried chicken.
