Fancy,

Kit Kat and myself both thank you for standing up for the BIG BUTTED Paint Mares.

Also one thing I don't understand some people post that they hate Paints but love Quarter Horses or Thoroughbreds well they need to do some research as Paint horses are for the most part just COLORED Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds. So therefore its not the breed Paints i'm assuming they "hate" its the color which each to his own but i'd much rather be riding something colorful that stands out. Rather than a solid sorrel or bay or brown, etc., just like everyone else, JMO

Also just for the record I don't hate any horse or breed of horse. I was taught as a very young child by an older gentleman farmer that there was no such thing as a bad horse just a bad trainer, owner, or rider and I know there are exceptions to every rule but for the most part I have found his words to be very true throughout my life.

Thank you!! I have a paint as well. I may not like certain breeds but I do not hate them.

Don't like Tall horses......... at 5 ft I'm too short for them, hehe

...Never hated any horse or color................... I tend to stay away from horses with very large white markings on the face/nose because of bad sunburns and the chunkier and shorter the better for me......... other than that, it is based on the animals temperament. I have known good and bad representations of many breeds but it mostly was from how they were or were not trained.

On that absolutely true note reguarding paints, I'd like to add that the very same goes for Appaloosas. If anyone who states they do not like Apps but love QH's would look at the pedigrees of almost any Appaloosa they would find that the vast majority of Appaloosa horses have huge percentages of QH and TB breeding in them. That is why most appaloosas no longer have any spots (insert major irritated look here) which is the main distinguishing trait of a App.

I dont really HATE any breed but only to a particular horse

Ranger, 3/4 Arab, first horse, taught a green buckress how to ride like me...learned alot from him!
Bambi, 1/2 TN, 1/2 Foxtrotter, was a college project but such a guy hater, spaz out everytime a guy comes up to her....sold her to an experienced trainer. Don't get me wrong, my uncle owned two Foxtrotters and they were WONDERFUL to ride.
Cierva, PF, absolutely the GREATEST horse I've ever owned...wished I never sold her to WindSong Farms but glad she was an important broodmare for their farm.
Jaaseri, 1/2 Arab, 1/2 TN Walker, god awful looking horse, huge head with a dish with buck teeth and LONG ears and LONG legs of a TN Walker. Got her from my cousin who could not manage her, I retrained her and made her the BEST trail horse along with Cierva. Her temperment is soooooooo sweet that you overlook her uglyness.
Ti, 100% King QH, I desipised that mare, hard headed and goat acting and she can bully anyone and kill you if she has given the chance. She was dangerous and I told the owner that I can not train her even she was eight years old but with that kind of attitude, she is nothing but dog meat. They loved her to death, got wonderful pedigree, directly from King Ranch, TX but never bothered in training or socializing with her. Sadly, she was obese and foundered many times, no other horses except the goats. I do enjoy QHs but this mare takes the cake!
Becario, wonderful PF but didn't want to gait, kept breaking into trocha so I sold him. Was a very good trail horse and endurance rider.
Negra, PF, does not understand English but PR language, strictly broodmare, hates trail riding so I sold her as a broodmare ONLY.
Danino, PF, goreous ex show horse, soured from doing gaits but willinginly go on trails. Loves CW reenactments. Sold him to a young gal who wants to use him for trail riding.
and I've had miniatures and all of them are sweet natured particuarly my beloved "Lady", oversized grey Appy Miniature which her disposition was sickening sweet and LOVES kids.

So of all the breeds I've had so far, the PF have been a positive look for me but now I can not ride them anymore because of my heavy weight size so Peruvians may be the next thing in line. I don't think I'll have horses anymore...its expensive and we do not have a farm. I know my dd wants a horse LOL!

I have to say I hate Arabians, and quarter horses. I don't like that dashed face and I don't like popular breeds I want something that sticks out, I also don't like curly horses because of their looks and attitude. My favorite is the friesian, I love tall and stocky horses, my rule is nothing under 15.5 hands

While there are breeds that I personally would not own, I can't say there are any breeds that I hate. I can certainly appreciate a well-trained horse no matter what the breed. What I do despise are some of the training methods used in the different disciplines.

As for albinos, "true" albinism does not exist in the equine world.

I don't hate breeds. I don't hate horses. I don't love breeds, I love personalities. I love the horse beneath.

Maggie and Eli. Maggie was a Shetland. Many people dislike shetlands because they 'tend to bite, can be aggressive'... When we had Maggie, Eli, and Elvis constantly surrounded by small children we NEVER had these problems. They were ( and are, respectively [RIP Elvis] ) some of the best ponies I'd ever placed my hands on. Both Elvis ( died, age 30s-40s ) and Maggie were rescues. Maggie came to us bred AND malnourished. These ponies did many rides, and loved many children.

Look at these kind eyes. So vicious.

Mary. My working / guard donkey. She served us many years as a livestock guardian donkey. Sure, she brayed like a fool and was always there to tell us it was breakfast time... but she never fell into a stereotype. Why? Because she, again, was an individual. I loved this donkey until we sold her to a family looking to show donkeys.

Mama, my "crazy and wild" Mustang and Maya "my ugly and lean" Trakehner x Thoroughbred

My herd in 2008. Blondie and Mary are no longer with us. Blondie passed away at the ripe old age of 30.

Black Al Bodi aka Diesal - A black purebred Arabian gelding. What is to hate about this race star?

More 'dishy, ugly' arabian geldings. At an endurance race.

A world renowned and very beautiful arabian gelding whose name slips my mind right now at the races. 100 mile superstar. Very, VERY sweet boy.

Triumph again.

Some saddlebred geldings running around an arena. Not much to hate about their beauty, either.

My Trakehner x TB again. One of the many loves of my life. She's a retired show horse, retired after a bad TRAINER ruined her. Pushed her too fast. So, she just does trails now. Nice and easy compared to her former jumping lifestyle.

Blondie and Lilly, Blondie's last foal. Born with a club foot and was put down at 2 due to complications with said foot. Blondie ( in this picture ) was a 25 year old Arabian, bred very well with a nice refined head. Nothing crazy about this horse. Nothing high strung. She was the calmest, most laid back horse I have ever owned. You could throw my nephew on her and go out on the trails until her stifle blew at 26. After that, she stood guard over him while he played cars in the yard. She was the best baby sitter I've ever owned.

Lilly at 2 weeks Lilly at 2 weeks

Lilly 8 weeks

Boy look at that 'ugly' paint butt and that 'ugly' arab face... You people are insane. All I see are a good looking horse with a bum foot.

Some of the TB broodmares. Coming in as I call them for feed while mom does a baby count.

TB colt at 3 months old. Leggy, yes, still growing? YES. He matured at 17 hands.

Oakley ( OTTB ) and Maya ( Trakehner x TB ) on a loose tie.

Last pic I'm gonna share, my pride and joy Mama ( mustang ) and my Trakehner mare Maya. Mama was purchased at days old, and came to me as a 3 year old from the trainers. She has been with me ever since and will be with my until she passes of old age. She is my partner in crime. My unruly, fence pushing, over jealous, mean, tempermental, crazy mare. She throws her head, spooks at everything, and is difficult to handle. Why? Because the ORIGINAL trainer ruined her. He let her slip through fencing as a foal, let her push him around as a weanling, let her get away with things as a yearling, etc. These habits have been brought down MAJORLY, but she is still what she is. My brat.

There are lost of stereotypes. Lost of 'bad' trainers.. But never a bad horse.

All of these horses I've shown you came to use with problems. May they have been a rescue, or kill bound. These horses came with their set of problems, NOT specific to ANY breed. But specific to how they were handled and trained.

Orumpoultry, Lilly was a beautiful filly so sorry you lost her at 2.

As for hating a partiular horse breed. I love them all, but don't mesh well with a couple of them. For some reason, though I think they are stunning horses Thoroughbreds and I just don't click when riding, but I don't hate them. Right now I have an Appedix/quarter horse, a Saddlebred and a Haflinger talk about three different types of horses.

Thank you. We were hoping to use her as Blondie's replacement in the show ring, but Lilly started dragging that foot and no amount of correction could fix it. Surgery might have, but that was a very expensive 'might'. Then one day she came up from the pasture dragging that foot. We decided to put her out of her misery.

On that note, not every breed is for every person. If you're not doing long distance riding, don't get a long distance horse. If you're showing, don't get something afraid of it's shadow. Etc.

How can people say that they hate a particular breed based on its conformation? You can't judge a book by its cover and you would not run around hating everyone because they did not look 'perfect'. You think the horse looks funny? Well, maybe the horse thinks you look funny.

Personally I am a fan of Appaloosas, Arabians, Warmbloods, Quarter horses and Stock horses. Why? Well, its certainly not because of the way they look. Horses should be judged as individuals and on their personality. Some of the most horrid looking horses I have ever seen have been the kindest, sweetest, most willing to please horses.

Just remember, you would not appreciate being hated by people just because of your skin colour, nose shape or body shape.
