That is not the case with self buff (more commonly referred to as buff). First generation buff x black crosses usually do produce chicks with excessive buff leakage. Look up “buff Orpington black australorp cross” and you’ll see what I mean...so the mother was a black mix in order to have that much Buff bleed through otherwise the chick would be solid black if mother was an Australorp with *some* possible Buff bleed through.
