Yep. I used the chicken breeding calculator to sort of reverse engineer how they did it. First, you’d breed a BR rooster with a WL hen. Breed hens from the F1 generation to a BR rooster so they’ll F2 will be homozygous for barring. Breed F2 rooster with a WL hen. Breed F3 hen with F2 rooster. Keep repeating until you get white eggs and the brown egg genes are diluted out. Those were the breeds used to create the California grey. It wasn't as simple as breeding the two together or breeding their offspring together.
It started there but took many more generations to establish them as a breed.
No your cross will not produce sex links nor will crossing those offspring produce them.

Where can you get them, andYeah, except you're breeding for color phenotype, not necessarily the high quality of the California Grey breed--bred by one of Poultry Breeding's titans.
California Grey chickens are really terrific. I have had 25 for almost a year and I'm really impressed with them: their health, their disposition, their laying, the taste of their eggs and their all-purpose excellence. I'd highly recommend them.
BigBlueHen53, I sent you a PM.Where can you get them, and
are they difficult to sex?
I got some lavender EEs this spring and they are beautiful, but I was unable to identify them by gender until they were nearly four months old. Some of the cockerels were very slow maturing and did not show adult male feathering until then.
Thank you.BigBlueHen53, I sent you a PM.
