Here is a photo of some of our breeding pens devoted to Minorcas. Not a great photo unfortunately. I have incubated about 200 eggs so far from 5 different breeding s.

I have read that the egg laying comes from the father's side of genetics. Does anyone know if this is true/documented in some way?Parent stock for Austra Whites. We produce these for our commercial flock. Good layers. The hens are the Pearl strain of White Leghorns . The male is from a good producing Austrolorp strain..![]()
I will wonder aloud~ if your existing stock was excelling in production and that is your goal, why are you crossing with the standard bred birds? There are basically 5 groups . I acquired some birds from Richard Schock. I already had some utility type Minorcas. I am crossing production males on RS females, RS males on production females, and RS males on RS females. The utility birds are much smaller but their egg size is equal to if not on average a bit larger than the standard females. Their disposition is a bit better than Leghorns but not as good as Anconas or Blue Andulusians. The standard birds are very large.
