BREEDING FOR PRODUCTION...EGGS AND OR MEAT.

I don't like the naked necks there creepy looking

LOL! I've met a lot of people who think this, but I would bet that if you spent a little time with them you would come to understand their appeal. When I first bought my NNs I did it for purely utilitarian reasons, not because of their looks. I'd read repeatedly that they're well-adapted to hot climates, and that has certainly proven true. But I discovered something else about them....they're fantastic! They have wonderful personalities, are very friendly and downright affectionate, incredibly hardy and healthy, and have proven to be a nearly perfect dual purpose birds, supplying me with lots of eggs, lots of meat, and an outstanding food conversion ratio compared to some of my other breeds. Now, after owning them for over a year I find them to be quite beautiful. I guess they're an "acquired taste".

If the real __it ever hits the fan, those who keep Naked Neck chickens will be among the fortunate, no matter where they live. I live in an extremely harsh climate and should I be able to own only one breed, Naked Necks it would be...I say this after being around them in horrifically cold and hellacious weather...they have stood the test.

It was funny, a while back, one of my friends posted a photo on her facebook with a caption that said something like this "I just got my chicks from the hatchery and they came with a free exotic chick.... Looks like I got a tiny ostrich!" and the photo was of the cutest little black FM Turkin nestled down in her hand... Reading the guesses that people were making as to the identity of the little bugger was hilarious! None of them had ever seen a naked neck before!

they r neat but creapy like lookin

I've tried, I've looked at loads of photos, I've actually even seen the real thing at a show, I've really, really tried, but I just can't get over how the naked necks look- although it's true they are probably one of the most useful breeds. I'd like naked necks except for their naked necks.

To me they look like they have been in a farm accident or something....... sorry...........

Perhaps they look like someone from America's most northern State who has had their hair frozen to the nape of their neck and then ripped away by a Cossack.

Did her chick look anything like these two? The top one reminds me the most of an ostrich, and the bottom one...love her attitude.
