I don't deny this, I love having the females! More eggs and/or ducklings! But my well thought out breeding plans for next year (okay, not that well thought out...) are now scrap.
He doesn't have a drake now to produce barred offspring now. It is a recessive gene and requires both parents to carry the gene. A barred drake would have been perfect for seeing if he had any other females that carry the gene.
Death in the seller's family, so we have to reschedule. Trying not to be a pessimist and thinking they are just making excuses, since I really didn't get that feeling from them when we were messaging back and forth, sending pics and arranging the meet up and everything, since they live about an hour away.
If they have good at communicating, I doubt anything funky is going on. A death in the family can cause a lot of issues and problems, and become a lot of work for some family members.AND not getting the ducklings today.
