I have a question regarding the type of chicken to expect with different breeding.

I have 10 RIR hens breeding with a white Ameraucauna rooster.I also have two Ameraucauna hens.

I was wondering what I can expect from the RIR's mating with my white Ameraucauna roo.

Will they lay green eggs?Maybe?Feather colors to expect?

Thanks for any and all input.1st year chicken owner here.

Try to get a fresh pic in the next day or so.

Thanks.

Do the Ameraucauna hens lay blue?

If they do, you could get green eggs from the offspring.

Do the RIR lay "cherry brown"?

If they do, you could get pinkish all the way to olive greenish with the offspring's eggs.

I'm imagining you'll get some wild color variations... be certain to post pics... this would be fun!
That roo is gorgeous.

I have 2 pullets from a RIR roo and EE hen. One lays an olive green egg and the other lays a brown egg. I also crossed her with a Minorca roo. Am waiting for their offspring to start laying. I am hoping for white and slightly tinted eggs.

Thanks for all the replies.

I just started getting greenish eggs from the Ameraucanas in the last day or s:hmmne of which decided to go broody on me.She's been sitting on a clutch of mixed eggs for the last couple of days.

Here's a pic of the colors of eggs I've been getting. They've slowed down a bit with the cold weather.

They range from light pink to dark brown.Pretty sure the roos doin his job,the ones I've been eating look like they've been fertilized.

Might have to try my hand at incubating here soon.

He is so handsome! I bet you'll have some awesome offspring with him. I wouldn't be surprised if his kids with your Ameraucana hens would lay nicely colored eggs.

The ones with the RIR may or may not lay colored eggs, no real way to know, but if the adults are good layers the kids probably will be too. They'll likely be a combination of red and white both sexes might look a little like the female red sex link. They'll also probably have a pea comb like your male and at least part of a beard.

Very cool, have fun with them! And post picture of the chicks!
