West texas
In your experience, which breeds tolerate heat well? I live in west texas where we get up to 120 most summers. I have a fan, give ice blocks, have deep shade and give frozen treats that help but they stil seem miserable. Our winters don't get too cold, the lowest is usually in the high teens. One winter we got down to -9 but that was the winter texas got hit bad. Wanting to get some new chicks, hoping for some heritage breeds and not productions birds. Also hoping for docile breeds.

I don't really like the look of NN but have considered them. My tractor supply currently has rhode island reds and white leghorns. Maybe I'll go get a couple leghorn and add some white eggs into the mix.
I LOVE my NN, Rue! She's a fantastic chicken. Curious, friendly, good layer. I wasn't sure about her at first, but she's one of my favorites now.

But Leghorn are great, too. Just not super friendly, ime. Crazy good layers, though. And I think they're very pretty, even if they are (as my son says) the "default chicken."
🤣
