Breeds that you absolutely HATE

cornish white meat birds. they are gross they grow gross they have to sit down they remind me of chicken processing plants and chicken warehouses and that is exactly why i started to raise birds to begin with. give me a dual purpose any day they tast better too! poor things it is not thier fault

Yeah, I didnt get those this year although they were offered free thru 4H, I kept hearing how they grew inches overnight and thats just wrong somehow...I would def. try a bird bred for meat production that is more normal though...turkens creep me out too, but I dont hate them. Just like some horses and dogs, there are individuals that are mean/stupid/nasty and maybe I would hate those....

If its got feathers, I love it! I cant fathom hating a certain breed if I love chickens. Maybe not caring for a particular one, but hate...? Now yes, I can see hating a particular bird of a certain breed, Ive had a couple of those...like a huge marans roo that viciously attacked me everytime I walked into the coop causing me several puncture wounds and gashes....YES I hated that bird! But still in a way loved it because he was indeed a chicken, I still looked at him (from v.e.r.y. far away!) and marvled at his beauty of being a bird.

I've read in this thread that Silkies are "pointless", but I'm pretty sure they sit better than the majority of other breeds.
Sounds quite potentially useful to me.

And banties?
That's like saying you hate the chickens you have...until they grow to X height or Y size.
Good think this isn't a people thread. We'd have midget haters in our midst!

Buff orps, silkies, and Malay (they are so ugly!) and anything with bug-eyes.

Nava, just curious as to why you don't like Welsummers and Barred Rocks. I figure RIRs because some of them are aggressive, at least that is what a few others have said. I've never heard anyone who hated Welsummers. Do you hate the way they look, or their behavior?

Well, a breed I really disliked was the New Hampshire Red. I had two and they were as mean as heck! Pecked the back of each and every chicken in my flock. So I got rid of 'em, and all is well!

They're not ugly, I just though they were really mean.
